Why sponsor dancers?

This program was born from my desire to help as many young dancers as possible after my own experiences as a dancer training full time and having to overcome injuries ultimately leading to my decision to stop pursuing dance as a profession.

I figured if athletes could be sponsored, why not dancers?!

So what IS the Sponsored Dancer Program?
The Sponsored Dancer Program is a scholarship awarded to 2 dancers per year (Starting in July). The dancers are provided with and initial assessment by me - an accredited exercise physiologist, and home program designed to help them reach their dance goals. This program is reviewed and updated regularly in line with their progress and changing needs.

Additionally, the dancers are provided with education on anatomy, physiology, safe dance practice and other topics as appropriate to support their understanding of their bodies and the demands that dance places on them.

Sponsoring dancers helps me to achieve my goal to help young dancers become stronger, safer and more informed.

Kayla & Tahney!
Tahney
Yarra Heights Dance Academy
Tahney has been dancing at Yarra Heights Dance Academy for 12 years and began her dance journey at the age of 2. She has enjoyed multiple styles of dance including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Lyrical, Broadway and Pointe. Tahney is part of the Junior and Senior Performance Teams at Yarra Heights and undertakes examinations.
She is an assistant teacher within the Dancestep Program. She has loved helping out younger students and seeing them improve.
Tahney is working on 2 solos throughout 2024 and will be competing with them later this year. Tahney has won multiple scholarships throughout her dance career and loves going to the studio almost every day. Tahney is very excited to start the program and can't wait to become a stronger and safer dancer. She hopes that she will inspire others and encourage them to follow their passion and dreams.

Vibe Studios & Lionheart Youth Dance Company
I absolutely love dancing and have been at Vibe Studios since I was 3yo. I have learnt many styles over the last 10 years. and am part of the Junior Elite competitive troupe. I also undertake a number of solos each year, performing at a State and National level. For the past 18 months I have been an assistant teacher to young dancers and love helping them and watching them grow!
I also was lucky enough to be accepted into the Lionheart Youth Dance Company for 2024 which has been an incredible dance experience so far.

Recently I had a growth spurt which has caused some loss of strength in my ballet technique. My current dance goals are to improve my strength in allegro and pointe work and maintain a higher arabesque. I am so grateful to be given this opportunity and I can’t wait to start working with Dancewright to help further strengthen my body and technique safely.
