Dance Strong! A 10-week online strength and injury prevention course for dancers. Over 10 exciting weeks you will learn about: 1. Muscles. how they work, what their role is, common injuries and how we can use all this knowledge in a practical sense every day in the studio. 2. The major joints and limbs of your body. The muscles, ligaments, injuries involved in movement and ways you can promote flexibility and strength in these joints or muscles to help improve your dancing and reduce your risk for injury. 3. Dance specific challenges. Putting all this new knowledge into practice, we will look at some of the common challenges that dancers face in the studio including turn out, arabesques and pirouettes. 4. Putting it all together. Finally, you will learn how to put the knowledge you have gained and the exercises you have tried into your own personal program. How the program will run... • Weekly Sessions - Each week you we will meet online for 90 minutes. 30 minutes will be educational content designed to teach you about the topics listed above, the remaining 60 minutes will be a structured strength and conditioning class targeting all the major muscle groups relevant to dancing. • All your questions answered - There will be 2 scheduled Q & A sessions where we will have a chat about the content you have learned along with any other dance injury prevention or strength and conditioning questions you may have. • Just for YOU - You will attend your own 1:1, 60-minute consultation with Exercise Physiologist Julie to personalise your program. We will cover: o Your dance strengths o Your dance weaknesses o Your dance goals o The best exercises for you to include in your strength and injury prevention program.
